NovaCarb S
NovaCarb S is a bimodal nanoporous / mesoporous bead form glass carbon material. Manufactured using a patented molecular template process the higher porosity does not harm the physical strength.
This material is ideal for applications where the larger pores remove kinetic inhibition and the bead form ensures optimum packing.
Properties;
- Liquid phase Catlysis
- Liquid phase Adsorption and Filtration
- Supercapacitors
- Oral adsorbents and wound management
- Fundamental research

NovaCarb F
NovaCarb F is a formed version of NovaCarb P or S (or mixture) to produce complex shaped components of glass carbon. In addition to the properties inhereted from the starting material NovaCarb F has macropores for enhanced transport properties..
Manufacture of the complex shapes involves a MAST Carbon developed binderless process which eliminates traditional issues such as particle shedding and low mechanical strength.
Properties;
- Low pressure drop adsorption devices
- High efficiency heater devices
- Analytical equipment filters
- Ozone filters
- Automotive emission control
- Composites with other materials i.e. zeolites
- Research

NovaCarb C
NovaCarb C is a nanoporous (pores ~1nm) 100% carbon fabric made from phenolic resin based fibres It may be in the form of a knitted, woven or felt textile; or other structures such as layered woven/nonwoven, rope etc.
MAST carbon works closely with our supplier Kynol Europe to meet customer requirements.
Properties;
- Any textile structure
- High strength
- Microporous (1 nanometre pores)
- Electrically conductive
- High purity
NovaCarb
NovaCarb is a synthetic nanoporous carbon of very high quality developed to overcome the traditional difficulties associated with conventional activated carbon.
Currently three types of NovaCarb are available, NovaCarb S in bead form which has nanopores and mesopores, NovaCarb F which is formed shapes and is predominantly microporous and NovaCarb C which a textile version of NovaCarb F. All are high purity with exceptional mechanical properties.
Technology
NovaCarb materials are based on a novel adaptation of phenolic resin technology. The carbon formed in the process is known as glassy or vitreous carbon so it is very hard and does not shed particles.
The process also allows the production of complex shapes from beads to honeycomb monolith without any loss of performance.
